Arrival in Muscat
Upon your arrival at the airport in Muscat, you will be welcomed by our colleagues from Primeclasslounge, who will assist you with your immigration formalities while you can rest a little. Afterwards, your personal driver will take you to your hotel for the next two nights. The Kempinski Muscat impresses with its modern design, complemented by oriental accents. The excellent cuisine and a dreamlike location right by the beach characterize the hotel.
Discover Muscat
Today you will immerse yourself in the life of the East. An Omani guide will show you the famous sights of Muscat, such as the Grand Mosque, the opera, the fish market, the old town, and a traditional souk. In the evening, a real dhow boat awaits you, where you can sail into the sunset while enjoying a drink.
The Hadjar Mountains
Today marks the start of your round trip. You will head to Barka, a coastal town known for its fish market and bullfighting. Continuing on to Nakhl, a palm-fringed city with an ancient fortress. Next, you will cross the mountains. On an off-road route, you will drive through Wadi Bani Awf, which is carved by deep gorges and offers stunning views. Nestled among rocks, gorges, and date palms is Bilad Sayt, a traditional village where time seems to pass a bit slower than in the rest of the country.
In the afternoon, you will reach Jebel Akhdar, Oman’s “green mountain.” Here is your hotel for the next few nights. The Anantara Jebel Akhdar is located at over 2000 meters altitude and provides the perfect base for excursions into the mountains. The excellent spa area and infinity pool offer you relaxation with impressive views.
The Green Mountain
Jebel Akhdar, Oman’s “green mountain,” is one of the most fertile regions of the Sultanate. Almonds, walnuts, apricots, pomegranates, and other fruits grow here. But not only fruits flourish; roses also thrive in the terraced fields. From these, the famous rosewater of the region is produced.
In the afternoon, you will visit Nizwa. In the past, Nizwa was the capital of Oman and is still of cultural significance today. Here you will experience a real Omani souk and can gaze over the breathtaking surroundings from the walls of the city fortress.
Just in time for sunset, we will be back on the mountain to enjoy the spectacle with a drink.
Oman's Mountain World
The mountains offer adventurous and relaxation-seeking travelers various leisure activities. Popular activities include hiking and mountain biking. For relaxation, the hotel’s excellent spa area and infinity pool, from which you can enjoy fantastic views of the mountains, provide comfort. The villages of the region are also popular excursion destinations.
From the Mountains to the Desert
Today we bid farewell to the unique mountain landscape and make our way to the desert, the next natural phenomenon of Oman. On the way, there are small, original villages. We will make a stop in Birkat al-Mauz. The village is known for its falaj irrigation system and the gardens where various fruits are grown. The last stop before reaching the desert is the village of Mudayrib.
This is followed by a ride through the dunes, where you will first catch sight of the sandy expanses of the Wahiba Desert. We will take you to a spot where camels await you. These will carry you to your accommodation for the night during the beautiful sunset that makes the desert glow. The private luxury tent camp of Canvas Club will be exclusively set up for you in the desert, providing you with an unforgettable desert experience under the starry sky of Oman.
Wadi Bani Khalid
After a rich breakfast in the desert, we will show you one of the most beautiful wadis in Oman: Wadi Bani Khalid. The riverbed of the wadi flows with water year-round, making it suitable for swimming. Small hikes through the rocky landscape are also possible.
After a relaxing day in the wadi, you will meet a Bedouin family who invites you to their home and gives you a glimpse into their traditional life.
Wadis & Coast
Today we leave the desert behind us and continue towards the coast. The first stop will be in the port city of Sur. After showing you the city, you will visit a dhow shipyard where traditional wooden sailing boats are still built today. The panoramic road leads further towards Muscat. Taking this route, you will pass the two wadis Tiwi and Shab, which are among the most beautiful in the country. Fins Beach, a white sandy beach with turquoise water, is also on the way and invites you to linger. The Bimmah sinkhole is another notable site. This is a rock crater fed by seawater.
In the early evening, you will reach Muscat International Airport. From here, you will embark on the last leg of your journey. Either continue to Musandam, the unique fjord landscape in the north, or to the green south to Salalah.
Beach stay Salalah (Option 1)
Salalah is the capital of Dhofar, the southernmost region of the Sultanate of Oman, about 1000 kilometers south of Muscat. The region is located on the Arabian Sea and is ideal for a relaxing beach holiday. The Al Baleed Resort by Anantara is located directly on a beautiful sandy beach, where you can reflect on the past experiences of an exciting journey. The generously designed villas of the resort offer the highest comfort and give their guests the space and privacy they desire.
Beach stay Musandam (Option 2)
500 kilometers north of Muscat lies the Omani exclave Musandam, about two hours from Dubai International Airport. The landscape of Musandam is characterized by rugged mountains and fjords, which is why it is nicknamed “Norway of the East.”
Your accommodation during your time in Musandam is the Six Senses Resort Zighy Bay. It is located in a private bay and offers the perfect place for a beach stay. The resort has been built from natural materials from the region in the style of an original Omani village and places great emphasis on sustainability to minimize impact on the unique nature.
