The luxury emirate on the Persian Gulf
Shiny bling and rich sheikhs may come to mind when you think of the wealthy mini-state on the Arabian Peninsula. The fascinating microstate indeed offers luxury lovers a truly exclusive pleasure. But there's no sign of ostentation: Qatar proves to be surprisingly versatile and impresses with a surprising balance of tradition and modernity. Here, historically significant souks meet giant shopping malls, mosques and impressive fortresses stand alongside gigantic skyscrapers, and romantic harbor promenades blend with trendy urban flair. A very special highlight: The chic, artificially created island “The Pearl,” which looks like an oyster pearl from above and fascinates with an almost unreal perfection.
Culinary delights in a whimsical adventure land
Hospitality is taken very seriously in Qatar. Sharing a meal is considered a social event here. Prepare yourself for a culinary experience that becomes a true delight thanks to the wonderfully intense taste of cinnamon and coriander. The aroma of black, sweet tea served in beautifully decorated glasses helps the visitor fully arrive and dive into the oriental world. After indulging, numerous attractions await you – whether it's a ride on a Dhow, an Arabic wooden boat that offers a perfect view of the skyline, or a desert night under a sparkling starry sky. Are you ready for your journey into a foreign world full of exoticism and adventure?

General information about Qatar
We have compiled the most interesting information for you about your desired travel destination.
Capital Doha
The capital of the Emirate of Qatar presents itself as a futuristic metropolis. Modern skyscrapers and luxurious shopping centers dominate the vibrant cityscape of Doha. You can get a special view of the skyline with a short boat trip to the nearby Palm Island. The seemingly endless Corniche beach promenade stretches along the coast. Alongside this modern appearance, culture and tradition have also been preserved in Doha. While shopping at the typical market Souq Waqif, you enter a world straight out of 1001 Nights: fragrant spices, traditional dishes, handicrafts, and stalls with camels and horses. In addition to new architecture, you can also discover some magnificent palaces and mosques in the city.
Beach vacation in Qatar
With its location on a peninsula, Qatar boasts approximately 550 kilometers of coastline, lined with dreamlike beaches. As a counterpoint to the vibrant metropolis of Doha, the beaches outside the city offer relaxation and rejuvenation. Here, you will find Katara Beach with a diverse culinary offering, water sports facilities, and a varied entertainment program. However, only the hotel beaches have such infrastructure. More remote locations, such as the desert beach “Khor Al Udaid” at the inland sea between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, remain completely untouched by development. Surrounded by a fascinating dune landscape, this special beach can only be reached by quad or jeep. The Zekreet Beach is also definitely worth a visit. Located next to prehistoric excavation sites, it offers stunning views of bizarre limestone formations and flamingos.
Special highlights and attractions
A mix of tradition and modernity makes Qatar an exciting travel destination. While the capital Doha leaves a futuristic impression with its high-rise facades and air-conditioned shopping malls, there is also much to discover culturally. Among the most impressive structures in the country is the Abdul-Wahhab Mosque with its 93 domes and a 65-meter-high minaret. The interior of the main mosque is state-of-the-art and can accommodate tens of thousands of worshippers. Another cultural highlight is the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha. The building impresses from the outside, where traditional geometric shapes are combined with modern elements. The Katara Cultural Village was designed as an Arab village to bring together the art of different cultures. Many renowned events take place in the resident galleries and clubs. For adventurous travelers, the Qatari desert is also a highlight. Discover the endless expanse of this landscape on a jeep tour or on the back of a camel. A very special desert experience awaits you at the inland sea Chaur al-Udaid, on the border with Saudi Arabia. Surrounded by dunes, you may observe flamingos, cormorants, turtles, and manatees here.
Behavior rules - What to pay attention to
The Emirate of Qatar is a traditionally Muslim country. The locals are known for their hospitality, but it is also expected that certain behavioral rules are followed. Regarding dress code, the basic rule for women is to show as little skin as possible. Generally, it is advisable to wear long, loose clothing that covers the knees. If you wish to visit a mosque, ankle-length pants and shirts are required. Women must also cover their shoulders and heads with a scarf or cloth. Moreover, the consumption of alcohol is only permitted in certain places, usually only in the bars and restaurants of hotels. This prohibition is strictly enforced, even for tourists, much like the possession of illegal drugs. For safety, you should carry a multilingual doctor's note for pain relievers and psychotropic medications. During the fasting month of Ramadan, tourists should also refrain from eating, drinking, and smoking in public.
Climate and best travel time
The subtropical climate in Qatar leads to extremely hot summers with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees. Intense sandstorms are also common during this time. Therefore, the winter months from November to April are recommended as the best travel time. With temperatures ranging from 25 to 30 degrees, it is still pleasantly warm, with cooler nights. In rare cases, rainfall may occur in winter, which is welcomed as a refreshing change.
