Good to know about Sweden
Best travel time for Northern Lights in Sweden
Those who wish to experience the Aurora Borealis should travel to Northern Sweden between the end of September and mid-April. Particularly good conditions are in the fall (October/November) and the dry winter (February/March) - then the nights are long, the air clear, and the solar wind activity often high.
The best observation spots are above the Arctic Circle: Abisko is among the least rainy regions in Sweden and is considered one of the most reliable places in the world for polar lights. But also Kiruna, Jukkasjärvi, and private lodges deep in the mountain area offer exclusive Aurora experiences - often directly from your accommodation.
Tip: Many of our partners organize guided Northern Lights tours on snowmobiles, with snowshoes, or comfortably in heated glass igloos. The Aurora is not a coincidence - with the right planning, you significantly increase your chances.
Summer in Sweden - Pure Nature and Endless Days
The Swedish summer is a celebration of lightness: from mid-June to the end of August, the country unfolds in full beauty. The days are long, often endlessly bright, and nature shows itself in its most intense form. Lakes, forests, meadows, and coasts invite you to breathe deeply - on hikes, kayak tours, or relaxed days at the summer house.
Especially in Southern and Central Sweden, this time is ideal for round trips. Particularly popular: the combination of Stockholm, the archipelago, the Småland region, and small boutique hotels by the lake. The coast of Skåne with its beaches, galleries, and farm cafés also shows its liveliest side now.
Those traveling in midsummer will also experience cultural highlights such as the Midsummer Festival, celebrated in many places - traditionally, charmingly, and full of joy of life. The Swedish summer is not a spectacle - but an invitation to immerse yourself completely in nature.
Lapland - Snow Hotels, Sami Culture & Luxury Lodges
Swedish Lapland in winter is wild, quiet, and full of magic. But for those who want to combine luxury with an authentic nature experience, this is one of the most fascinating regions in Europe. Between December and March, the landscape transforms into a winter fairytale - with temperatures down to -30 °C, deep snow-covered forests, and frozen lakes.
Our travels lead to small, fine lodges and hotels focused on quality and experience: from the legendary Icehotel to remote design hideaways with private guides and activities right outside your door. Whether dog sledding through the mountains, dining under the Northern Lights, or exchanging experiences with Sami families who still ranch reindeer today - memories that last are created here.
Discover Sweden by rental car
For anyone who likes to travel independently, Sweden is the perfect rental car country. The roads are well developed, lightly trafficked, and lead through diverse landscapes - from coasts and lakes to forests and small villages. Even in remote regions, the infrastructure remains reliable.
A popular route: Start in Stockholm, drive to the Dalarna region, then towards Höga Kusten (UNESCO World Natural Heritage) and back via Lake Vänern. Those with more time can also incorporate the southwest with Gothenburg or the islands of Öland and Gotland. Particularly appealing: accommodations in historic manors, small country hotels, or modern architectural lodges.
Thanks to well-signposted nature reserves, regional cuisine, and many encounters off the tourist paths, a self-drive trip through Sweden is always a unique experience. We plan your route so that you not only drive but also truly arrive - in the landscape and with yourself.
