A modern curved building with large windows on a grassy landscape under a partly cloudy sky.

There are places where one spends a few relaxing days, and there are places that open up entirely new horizons like the Explora Rapa Nui. Here, amidst the green hills of Easter Island, about 3,500 kilometers from the Chilean mainland, it's mainly about discovering the almost unreal beauty of nature – the towering cliffs and volcanic craters, the lava fields and lonely beaches. Life begins where the computer screen ends: At least at the Explora Rapa Nui, this still seems to hold true. Wi-Fi and TV are only available in public areas, as the focus is on slowing down and the spirit of adventure. Being offline is a privilege. Especially when you set off in groups of a maximum of 8 participants to view the legendary Moai, human-like stone sculptures with oversized heads, up close, the magic of this little paradise in the Pacific reveals itself.

Rooms

Going back to the origins – in hardly any other place is this philosophy as palpable as at the Explora Rapa Nui. With its pleasantly reduced design, wooden accents, and fresh splashes of color in light green and raspberry red, the approximately 32-44 square meter rooms and suites present themselves as cozy havens to which one gladly returns after adventurous days. The floor-to-ceiling windows place the breathtaking nature at the center of attention. Elegant fixtures in brass finish create sparkling highlights. In the bathroom, a whirlpool bathtub awaits you for delightful relaxation moments after island excursions.

Culinary

Good food in a cozy atmosphere – the in-house restaurant serves dishes that ideally prepare you for extensive hikes, bike tours, or beach days with their lightness, balanced composition, and healthy ingredients. You can also enjoy the best wines that Chile has to offer. The light-filled Explorer’s Bar is a popular meeting point, both for preparing excursions and for sharing experiences after the day’s program. A selection of classic drinks and wines makes the coziness perfect.

Activities

The desire to explore is already carried in the name Explora Rapa Nui. With around 30 different excursions offered as guided half-day or full-day tours in at least two languages, you can explore the beauty of Easter Island in small groups of up to eight participants. Depending on the difficulty level, hikes, mountain bike tours, or horseback rides through the untouched volcanic and coastal landscape are combined with transfers in a minibus, dives, or swimming stops. Back at the accommodation, you can give body, mind, and soul an extra portion of attention with a soothing massage or a bath in the whirlpool or outdoor pool.

Location

About 8 kilometers from the island's capital and the airport Hanga Roa, the Explora Rapa Nui greets you amidst gently sloping hills descending to the Pacific coast: green idyll as far as the eye can see. To embark on the most beautiful hiking and mountain biking routes on the island, you don’t have to endure a long drive – the adventure can begin right at the hotel door. The mystical Moai, whose origin dates back to the period between the 13th and 16th centuries, are scattered across the island and are partially grouped on stone platforms known as Ahus. The fact that the island is of volcanic origin is impressively underscored by lava fields and caves. Moreover, Easter Island, with its crystal-clear waters, is among the most sought-after diving and snorkeling areas in the world.
