Arrival in Santiago de Chile
Upon your arrival in Santiago, you will already be welcomed at the airport by your English-speaking guide.
From here, you will go directly to a city tour in the historical heart of the capital. Visit the Casa de La Moneda, a beautiful colonial-style building that now serves as the seat of the Chilean government. Admire more colonial-style buildings and historical statues and monuments at Plaza de Armas.
From one of the highest points in the city, Cerro Santa Lucia, you will then enjoy a fantastic view over the entire city and the mountains on the horizon.
Valparaíso and Viña del Mar
Today, you will go to one of Chile's most famous coastal cities: Valparaíso. Founded in 1536, this city was once an important trading hub and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Admire the beautiful architecture of this city between hills and sea while taking a ride on one of the old trolley buses through the steep streets and narrow alleys.
Afterwards, the nearby coastal town of Viña del Mar invites you with beautiful architecture and a romantic view of the ocean.
San Pedro de Atacama
Today you will fly to the north of the country. Upon landing at Calama airport, you will be welcomed by your guide who will accompany you on your journey to San Pedro de Atacama.
The indigenous tribes that still call this place home mainly live from agriculture and tourism. A church from 1774 in the town center provides insight into the local culture. Admire the unique architecture of this building made of cactus wood, with earthen walls and support beams from carob trees.
Pukara de Quitor, the Devil's Gorge, and the Salar de Atacama
The day begins with a visit to the historical fortress Pukara de Quitor from the 14th century. Afterwards, you will hike through the impressive Devil's Gorge along the San Pedro River to the former Inca settlement Catarpe – a place that impressively combines history and nature.
After lunch, discover Toconao with its colonial charm and volcanic stone bell tower. Enjoy the tranquility of the place and the unique light of the Atacama. To finish, you will visit the breathtaking Salar de Atacama – a vast salt flat, home to flamingos and a true natural wonder in the midst of the desert. The shimmering colors and the quiet expanse create an almost surreal atmosphere.
Excursion to the Tatio Geysers
Early in the morning, you will set off for the famous Tatio Geysers. The highest geothermal field in the world is located here in the Andes at an altitude of 4200 meters. In addition to the steaming geyser fountains, which can reach temperatures of up to 85°C, warm thermal pools invite you to bathe and relax.
Here we not only offer you a guided tour through this fascinating landscape, which shimmers in colorful hues due to the many minerals in the soil, but also a breakfast under the open sky.
Journey to Puerto Varas
Your journey through Chile continues. Today you will fly over Santiago to Puerto Montt in the south of the country. With the private transfer service, you will continue from the airport to the nearby town of Puerto Varas, right by Lake Llanquihue. This lake belongs to the Chilean lake district. The landscape here is characterized by waterways, lakes, dense forests, and massive volcanic mountains.
Petrohué and Lake Todos de los Santos
Today's excursion takes you along the coast of Lake Llanquihue. After arriving in the small port town of Ensenada, you will head inland to Petrohué. Admire the beautiful waterfalls where bright blue water cascades over smooth rocks and offers a fantastic view of the Osorno volcano. On board a catamaran, you will reach the turquoise waters of Lake Todos de los Santos (translated: All Saints Lake) from here.
Across the Water to Isla de Chiloé
Today, you will reach the small town of Chacao on the northeastern side of the Chacao Canal by ferry. From here, you will continue by sailboat to Chiloé Island. In an archipelago of 40 islands, Isla de Chiloé stands out as the largest among them. Here, old Chilean traditions are still alive and reflected in the simple architecture and special local delicacies. The rugged landscape and the fantastic view over the lakes and the mighty snow-capped mountains create a unique backdrop that impresses and enchants.
Isla Lemuy and Chonchi
The ferry that will take you on today's adventure departs from the port in Huicha. Our destination is Isla Lemuy. This island is considered to be a particularly sacred place among locals. This fact is underscored by the eight churches on the island. Three of these churches are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites due to their special architecture and historical significance. On this island, you can also explore Yayanes Park, where a footpath through the dense forest and over a hanging bridge brings you as close as possible to the nature of the Chilean lake district. On the way back, we will make a stop in the traditional town of Chonchi, where you can admire more architecture, museums, and local artists.
Puntas Arenas and Puerto Natales
Today, we will continue not by sea but through the air. You will fly to Puntas Arenas. This port city is situated directly on the Strait of Magellan, which separates the Chilean mainland from the Tierra del Fuego Islands. Founded in 1848, the city is famous for its wooden houses in friendly pastel colors.
From here, we will head slightly north by land to the port city of Puerto Natales. Surrounded by hills and mountains, this city offers not only beautiful nature in the surroundings but also some fantastic museums, local artists, and a chance to learn more about the life of the indigenous people of Chile.
Fjords, Glaciers, and Estancias
On a cruise through Bernardo O’Higgins National Park and the Ultima Esperanza Fjord, you can admire the impressive nature of this region from aboard a ship. The fjord particularly attracts attention with its variety of wildlife, which can be observed here, such as sea lions and cormorants.
After lunch at a traditional Chilean cattle ranch, known as an estancia, we will continue to the Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers. These ice giants are particularly well viewed from the water as one can truly appreciate the incredible size of the glaciers up close from here.
Excursion to Torres del Paine National Park
On today's excursion to Torres del Paine National Park, fantastic views and insights into the unique nature of this UNESCO biosphere await you. Lakes, snow-capped mountains, glaciers, and blooming valleys form a sea of colors and impressions that you will never forget. With a bit of luck, you may spot llamas and one of the largest birds in the world, the condor.
After lunch, you will leave your hotel in Puerto Natales and return to Punta Arenas, where the first-class Hotel Diego de Almagro awaits you.
Punta Arenas
Explore Punta Arenas on your last day in Chile. From a viewpoint, enjoy a wide view over the city, the Magellan Strait, and the surrounding landscape. In the city, take a stroll to Plaza Muñoz Gamero, where in the shade of cypress trees stands the statue of explorer Hernando de Magallanes – those who touch his feet are said to return to Chile. The regional museum invites you to discover exciting anthropological finds, and on the historical Sara-Braun Cemetery, centuries-old gravestones tell the story of the region's past.
In the afternoon, your private transfer service will take you to the airport for your return flight to Santiago, where you will spend your last night at the stylish Galerias Hotel.
