From Vancouver to Whistler

In the morning, your journey begins and leads via the Sea-to-Sky Highway, high up into the mountains to Whistler. Along the way, breathtaking views await you of the sea framed by mountains, dense forests, and steep cliffs. A stop you definitely shouldn't miss is the Shannon Falls. At 335 meters high, these are the third-highest waterfalls in British Columbia. Another attraction along the route is a pilgrimage site for climbers from all over the world: the Stawamus Chief Rock. A huge granite rock where climbing artists dare to reach dizzying heights. After this drive through stunning natural landscapes, the first stage of your journey finally ends in the early afternoon in Whistler.

Discover the Whistler Ski Resort

Today is about exploring the charming ski resort. In summer, there is just as much to experience here as in the winter months. Play a round of golf on one of the 4 golf courses, or head out onto one of the five nearby lakes in a boat or kayak. For those who want to go high, the Peak2Peak Gondola beckons, taking you up to Whistler Mountain. From here, you can continue on the chairlift up to 2182 meters. Enjoy breathtaking views of glaciers, snow-capped mountain peaks, lakes, and valleys. After a day full of exciting activities, one of the many mountain restaurants invites you to stay. In a cozy atmosphere, you can enjoy the fantastic view of the mountains with a good glass of wine and an exclusive menu.

From Whistler to the Sunshine Coast

Today you travel back down the Sea-to-Sky Highway in the opposite direction to the coast. At the ferry terminal Horseshoe Bay, you board a ferry with a destination: the beautiful Sunshine Coast. A coastal landscape of islands that can only be reached by water. The 45-minute cruise takes you through some of the most beautiful fjords and waterways in the region. At the pier in Langdale, you disembark and continue on from here, relaxed through dense forests and remote fishing villages, to your accommodation.

Discover the Sunshine Coast

Explore the beauty of the Sunshine Coast. Take a hike on one of the many well-marked trails deep into the ancient forests of the region, or drive down to one of the many small fishing villages and watch the activity at the harbor. Enjoy a fantastic view of the waters of the Skookumchuck Narrows from one of the large rooftop terraces of your accommodation, and end the day with excellent food and a beautiful sunset.

05

From the Sunshine Coast to Quadra Island

Today you travel north to the ferry terminal Earls Cove. From here, you embark on a 50-minute ferry ride to Saltery Bay. Here you disembark again and continue along the coast on a route with more fantastic views of snow-capped mountains and fjords. At Powell River, you then board a ferry again and cross the Georgia Strait. Your destination is Quadra Island. A small island directly off the east coast of the larger Vancouver Island.

Here, not only does a luxurious accommodation await you, but also the relaxed island life of a small community that lives closely together and warmly welcomes you.

06

Cruise to Desolation Sound

Today a very special cruise awaits you. Aboard one of the Zodiac Line ferries, you head out onto the waterways and fjords of the Sunshine Coast. The destination is Desolation Sound, a deep sea inlet east of Vancouver Island. From here, there is an especially good view of the landscape of the Sunshine Coast. The glaciers on the mountains sparkle white in the sunlight, the coasts are covered with the dense green of the forests, and with a bit of luck, you may observe whales or sea lions in the water. Not only in the water are there powerful mammals to admire; with a bit of luck, you might spot a grizzly bear or its smaller relative, the black bear, on nearby Toba Island.

07

From Quadra Island to Tofino

Today you leave the beautiful Quadra Island again. On a short ferry ride, you cross the strait over to the larger Vancouver Island. Along the rugged coastline, you head southwest towards Tofino. This route takes you past Cathedral Grove, a national park where some Douglas fir trees are over 800 years old. The ancient giants impress with a trunk circumference of over nine meters and are definitely worth a stop. Nearby Sproat Lake, you can also admire the famous Mars bomber water bombers, some of the largest seaplanes in the world that were still in use until 2013 for fighting forest fires. Then you continue through Sutton Pass, from where you have a fantastic view of the Cascade Mountains, and reach your accommodation in Tofino in the early afternoon.

Visit the famous Longbeach and watch surfers from all over the world ride the waves during a stroll along the fine sandy beach. Explore the deep forests on one of the well-marked hiking trails, and then embark on a three-hour cruise that brings you up close to the world's largest marine mammals, the whales. With some luck, you may see orcas, porpoises, and humpback whales, and meet the playful sea lions that call the waters around the coast home.

From Tofino to Victoria

The destination of today's journey is the capital of British Columbia - Victoria. On the way there, you will visit the artists' community of Chemainus. Here you can admire beautiful murals, and the City of Totems showcases one of the largest collections of indigenous totem poles in the country. If time allows, it is also worth a detour to the place Quw’utsun‘, inhabited by the Coast People indigenous community.

Victoria and the Butchart Gardens

Today is yours at leisure. Victoria is a vibrant and beautiful city with architecture from the late 19th century. Admire the castles, fortifications, and old trading houses by the harbor. In the city named after the late English queen, many British influences can still be recognized. Sit down for a typical English afternoon tea in one of the many small cafes and watch the activity on the streets while enjoying tea and scones. Afterwards, you should definitely visit the Butchart Gardens. A huge park located in the middle of the city that was established over 100 years ago and now boasts one of the largest collections of various plants and flowers in the country.

Return home

Today it is time to say goodbye. However, not before you have boarded a ferry one last time at the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal. Take your farewell from the beautiful and rugged nature of the Sunshine Coast during the 1.5-hour ride back to Vancouver. Admire the fjords and snow-capped mountains one last time, and with a bit of luck, hear the cry of the bald eagle before you fly back home from Vancouver.
