01 Thimphu

First encounters with the kingdom

The journey itself is an experience – after you have left behind the 8000-meter peaks of the Himalayas, the pilot skillfully guides the plane past the mountains and brings you to Paro. Here, you will meet your private guide and immediately head towards Thimphu. Enjoy the passing landscape and let your guide introduce you to the destination of Bhutan. In the afternoon, the first sightseeing begins – you will drive to Buddha Point. The 50-meter high Buddha statue rises on a hill above the valley. From up here, you have a great view of Thimphu – the commercial and religious center of the country.
On the following day, you will explore Thimphu and the surrounding area with your guide. You will also visit the National Memorial Chorten Museum – a memorial shrine of Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, the third Dragon King, who opened Bhutan to the outside world.

02 Punakha

A valley between temples and tropical green

A new day, a new valley. After breakfast, you will set off for Punakha. You will wind your way up and down the Dochu La Pass. At 3,088 meters, on a clear day, you can see various mountain peaks in the distance, including Bhutan's highest peak: Gangkar Puensum at 7,497 m.
Before arriving in Punakha, you will make a stop and hike to Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple. Your guide will happily share the colorful story of Lama Drukpa Kuenley, also known as the “Divine Madman,” to whom the temple is dedicated. In the afternoon, a visit to Punakha Dzong awaits you. Let yourself be enchanted by the Palace of Great Happiness.

03 Paro

Tiger's Nest – Spiritual highlights in the Himalayas

Paro: The gateway to Bhutan and the site of the country's most famous monastery – the Tiger’s Nest (Taktshang). Get to know the various sides of Paro before setting off on the hike to Tiger’s Nest on the second-to-last day of your trip. The Tiger’s Nest is perched about 900 meters above the valley on a small cliff. In Bhutan, the Tiger’s Nest is a pilgrimage site that every Bhutanese should visit at least once in their lifetime. Prepare for the approximately 5-hour hike to the monastery and learn more about its history, current use, and enjoy the views that continually unfold in the valley.
