Six Senses Bhutan
Welcome to the mysterious Bhutan. The kingdom in the clouds was actually a hidden world just 50 years ago – it wasn't until 1974 that it opened its borders to tourists from all over the world. Hence, it is hardly surprising that the country is still one of the lesser-known travel destinations. However, this is set to change soon: colorful and versatile, the landscape and culture captivate visitors. The luxury resort Six Senses Bhutan is spread across five different locations in the western valleys of the country, all of which are uniquely beautiful in their own way.
The exclusive lodges are scattered in the most breathtaking landscapes, between rugged gorges, wild waterfalls, and massive mountain slopes. It's hard to make a choice. The good news: round trips are not only possible but highly recommended. Those wanting to discover the diversity of the Himalayas can stay in Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey, Bumthang, as well as Paro. While the lodges differ in size and design, they are all equipped in line with Six Senses' core principles. At each location, there is the opportunity to enjoy a spa and wellness offering. Additionally, guests are continuously provided with healthy and fresh meals.

The Six Senses lodges are perfectly integrated into their surroundings and offer individual charm at each location – always with tranquility and comfort. In Thimphu, there is the "Palace in the Sky" lodge located at a high elevation, surrounded by apple orchards and pines, with breathtaking views and central access to attractions. With a lower elevation and a moderate climate, Punakha is the country's vegetable garden and the warmest of the Six Senses Bhutan destinations. In the Phobjikha valley, a nature reserve at an altitude of 3,000 meters, the lodge in Gangtey attracts unique birdwatching opportunities, especially of the rare black-necked cranes. Nestled in a pine forest, the lodge in Bumthang feels like a natural part of its surroundings – a true "Forest within a Forest." The lodge in Paro, amidst historical stone ruins from the 12th century, delights with charm, history, and proximity to the National Museum of Paro.

Location
The kingdom of Bhutan is located in the Himalayas between China and India and is roughly the size of Switzerland. The fascinating country reaches dizzying heights of up to 7,000 meters, with the Six Senses lodges situated in the western and central valleys of the country, including the capital Thimphu: surrounded by steep mountain slopes and still at an altitude of 2,350 meters, this valley is a spectacular travel destination. To this day, Thimphu is the only capital in the world without traffic lights. The country has an international airport located in Paro, which is served by flights from Bangkok and Singapore, among others. The five lodges are easily accessible from the airport and are interconnected by a road network. Alternatively, helicopter access is also possible.
