Welcome to La Réunion! After your arrival in Saint-Denis, you will pick up your rental car and drive along the coast to your first accommodation in Saint-Gilles. Surrounded by tropical nature and situated directly on the beach, this is the perfect place to arrive peacefully and gather first impressions of the island.\n\nEnjoy relaxed hours by the sea or explore the surroundings – a picturesque sunset on the water perfectly rounds off the first day.

Your adventure begins: Up the spectacular serpentine road leads the famous 'Road of 400 Curves' into the caldera of Cilaos. On the way, you can expect impressive views, including from Piton Maïdo over the remote Cirque de Mafate.\n\nArriving in Cilaos, you’ll experience a whole different side of the island – characterized by tranquility, nature, and Creole joy of life. Whether it’s relaxing hours in the thermal springs, hikes through the mountainous landscape, or local wine tastings: here, activity and enjoyment come together in a special way.

Today, you continue from Cilaos into the green south of the island. Along the winding route, you’ll discover lush nature, tropical forests, and – depending on the route – aromatic gardens full of spices and exotic plants.\n\nOn the plateau around Plaine des Palmistes, a very special landscape awaits you: vast, calm, and unspoiled. From here, you will start to one of the most impressive natural highlights of the island – the active volcano Piton de la Fournaise. Early in the morning, spectacular views of the barren, almost lunar landscape unfold before you. If you wish, you can explore the crater rim on a hike and experience the power of nature up close.

In the morning, you’ll immerse yourself in the lush nature of the Forêt de Bébour rainforest before continuing your drive east. It’s worth stopping at impressive waterfalls like the Cascades de Takamaka or the Cascades de la Paix – including spectacular photo opportunities. Your destination for the day is the charming village of Hell-Bourg in the Cirque de Salazie. With its colorful Creole houses and relaxed atmosphere, it is one of the most beautiful places on the island and exudes a very special, almost timeless charm.

Today, the route leads you through the lush green caldera of Salazie. Passing by rushing waterfalls like the 'Voile de la Mariée' and through tropical vegetation with vanilla and banana plantations, you’ll once again experience the full diversity of the island.\n\nAlong the coast, you will finally reach Saint-Denis, where you will spend your last night on La Réunion – before continuing on to Mauritius.

After the eventful days on La Réunion, pure relaxation awaits you: Mauritius welcomes you with white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy sunny days by the sea, let your soul dangle, or explore the fascinating underwater world while snorkeling or diving.\n\nThere’s also plenty to discover on land – for example, in the Black River Gorges National Park with its tropical landscapes and impressive waterfalls.
