Welcome to Japan's ancient capital: Kyoto!

Upon arrival at Kansai – or Osaka Itami Airport, you will be taken directly to your hotel by private transfer. Welcome to the historic city of Kyoto! Here, the emperors of Japan resided hundreds of years ago.

Fourteen temples and shrines in the city are now UNESCO World Heritage sites. Look forward to a fascinating program that brings you close to one of the most beautiful cities in Japan.

Explore Kyoto

After your arrival in Kyoto, your day begins with a visit to the historic Nijo Castle, built by Shōgun Tokugawa Ieyasu. Next, head to the magnificent Kinkakuji Temple, whose golden facade impresses. In the Zen gardens of Ryonaji Temple, you will find peace before trying Japanese delicacies at Nishiki Market. Conclude your day in the Gion District, where you may have the chance to spot a Geisha.

Optionally, a traditional tea ceremony awaits, where you will dive into the world of Zen and experience the significance of each ritual up close.

Arashiyama in West Kyoto

Today you have the opportunity to explore Kyoto at your own pace. A worthwhile trip is to Arashiyama in the west of the city: Discover the hidden Otagi Nenbutsu Temple with its hundreds of expressive stone sculptures, stroll through the magical bamboo forest, and wander through the gardens of Tenryuji Zen Temple. A highlight is the view from the 155-meter-long Togetsukyo Bridge over the Katsura River.

Optional: Experience an exclusive dinner with a real Kyoto Geisha. In a Michelin-starred Kaiseki restaurant, enjoy not only culinary sophistication but also a one-hour private performance with dance and conversation – a rare insight into a centuries-old tradition.

The sacred sites of Nara and the colorful Fushimi

On this day trip, you will first visit the Fushimi Inari Shrine. This shrine houses over a thousand red gates that line up to form a long tunnel. This impressive sight will be the beginning of a journey into the world of unique temples and wonders of Japan.

Next, visit the Todai-ji Temple, known as one of the largest wooden buildings in the world. Let yourself be enchanted by the stone lanterns of the Kauga Shrine and visit the sacred deer of Nara. These animals are revered by believers as messengers of the gods.

Kyoto - Hakone – Kawaguchiko

Take the train to the nearby Odawara (approx. 2 hours travel). There, one of our drivers will greet you and take you in a private car to the sights in Hakone and Kawaguchiko. Your journey begins with a visit to the Chokokunomori Open Air Museum. A sprawling sculpture garden offers you the chance to view beautiful artworks. Relax afterwards with a boat ride on the famous Lake Ashi before continuing to Kawaguchiko. Here, be fascinated by the almost-forgotten art of kimono dyeing at the Chokokunomori Museum before concluding the day with a visit to one of Japan's most famous sites.

From the Chureito Pagoda on the grounds of the Arakura Sengen Shrine, you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the famous Mount Fuji.

06 Tokyo

The first day in Tokyo

After your arrival in the Japanese capital, you will have an excursion to the Kiyosumi Gardens and a walk through the historic Fukagawa Edo district.

Other program highlights include a visit to the Kannon Temple and the Nakamise shopping street. From there, your guide will take you through the Yanaka old town and the diversity of the multicultural Akihabara district. The evening is free for you to enjoy. We recommend a visit to the famous Tokyo Skytree.

Today you will experience the modern, creative side of Tokyo. The day starts at the lively Tsukiji Market, followed by a relaxed stroll through the Hamarikyo Gardens. In the elegant Ginza district, impressive architecture and renowned galleries await you. Marunouchi Nakadori Street shows Tokyo from its cosmopolitan side. The grand finale is a monorail ride to the futuristic island of Odaiba – with a spectacular view of Tokyo Bay.

Don’t miss the famous Shibuya crossing, a symbol of modern urban culture.
