At Azura Benguerra, the culinary experience is part of the unique adventure on the island. The resort is not only known for its exquisite cuisine but also for its innovative dining setups: from breakfast by the water, picnics on a secluded sand island, to a candlelit dinner under the stars or a romantic private dinner in your villa; you will never have to eat at the same place twice. The resort also features a fantastic wine cellar for special wine tastings and themed dinners, along with a selection of the owner's wines that are flown in from the Loire Valley in France.

Benguerra Island offers not only comfortable villas and dreamy sandy beaches but also a range of relaxing and exciting activities, especially highlighted by the unique and diverse local flora and fauna. If you're looking for relaxation, you can indulge in the Azura African Spa with regional ingredients and traditional treatments. For nature and photography enthusiasts, excursions to the red dune and the crocodile lakes, where a variety of birds and reptiles, including the large Nile crocodile, can be observed, or to Southpoint Beach, the southernmost tip of Benguerra Island, where the Mozambique Channel meets the Indian Ocean, are highly recommended. The location of the island is also suitable for a variety of water activities such as island hopping by speedboat, deep-sea fishing, and snorkeling and diving.

Location

The resort is located in Mozambique on Benguerra Island in the Bazaruto Marine National Park, 14 km northeast of Vilanculos, the nearest town with an international airport. From Johannesburg, you can reach Vilanculos daily in 1.5 hours, and flights to Vilanculos are regularly available from Maputo as well. A stay at Azura Benguerra can therefore be perfectly combined with other African experiences. Helicopters from Archipelago Charters are available for the 10-minute transfer from Vilanculos to Benguerra Island, connecting to your other flights. This transfer should be booked at the same time as your accommodation.
