For nature and photography enthusiasts, excursions to the red dune and the crocodile lakes, where a variety of birds and reptiles, including the large Nile crocodile, can be observed, or to Southpoint Beach, the southernmost tip of Benguerra Island, where the Mozambique Channel meets the Indian Ocean, are highly recommended. The location of the island is also suitable for a variety of water activities such as island hopping by speedboat, deep-sea fishing, and snorkeling and diving.
Location
The resort is located in Mozambique on Benguerra Island in the Bazaruto Marine National Park, 14 km northeast of Vilanculos, the nearest town with an international airport. From Johannesburg, you can reach Vilanculos daily in 1.5 hours, and flights to Vilanculos are regularly available from Maputo as well. A stay at Azura Benguerra can therefore be perfectly combined with other African experiences. Helicopters from Archipelago Charters are available for the 10-minute transfer from Vilanculos to Benguerra Island, connecting to your other flights. This transfer should be booked at the same time as your accommodation.
