Culinary

In the morning, the scent of freshly baked roti and wild lemongrass fills the air. By noon, the aroma of curry wafts through the open kitchen, where garden vegetables simmer in clay pots. And in the evening? A private dinner on a floating platform, accompanied by torches and a concert of frogs. The cuisine at Uga Ulagalla is honest, local, and creative – from cassava chips to homemade cinnamon ice cream.

Location

Just an hour away from the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, and Dambulla, Uga Ulagalla is set in a peaceful landscape of rice fields, ponds, and tropical vegetation. Despite its secluded location, the resort is easily reachable: it takes about 4 to 5 hours by car from Colombo International Airport, and the hotel can arrange a private transfer with a chauffeur upon request. Alternatively, you can also fly domestically to Anuradhapura – from there, it takes only about 40 minutes to reach the resort. Thus, your getaway begins with the journey – calm, comfortable, and entirely hassle-free.
